O N E I R I C pronounced Oh!-ne-rik “to dream” is exactly that a hidden gem nestled in the heart of the cool-climate Elgin Valley, the valley is tucked away in the Kogelberg Biosphere in Elgin to be exact. I haven’t been there yet! I have however tasted a few of their wines. In recognition of the families many generations of mining stock, the Pascall’s decided to play on a Copper theme, with each varietal’s label playing on a different copper derivative; from Chalcopyrite/Fools Gold and Malachite to the rich blue of Azurite. The labels are striking and stand out on any wine list. The Oh! is our lighter “fun” side to our more serious range.
Appearance: Aroma: Taste
A classic example of a unique expression cool climate Sauvignon Blanc. An elegant, fragrant wine, with concentrated acidity, intensity and freshness. Citrus, orange rind with hints of white peach and flower blossoms with a grapefruit pithiness. Lovely minerality. These wines have been aged in bottle for 3 years and the result is an elegantly soft and surprisingly fruit-driven wine. A well-balanced wine with great mouthfeel and a long and seamless finish.
Personal Food pairing:
Although these dishes can be enjoyed with most Sauvignon Blanc’s I have had all three with the Oh! Sauvignon Blanc and each one complimented the differing attributes of this wine. Ravioli with Green Pea Pesto a Scallop and Sugar Snap Pea Stir-Fry and Cheese (especially goat cheese) to finish off.
